Marie Evelyn Stargard was born on January 20, 1910 in the Town of Manchester, Black River Falls to Ernest and Rose (Rudkin) Thompson. She grew up in the Shamrock area and moved to Oconomowoc in 1930.
She married Herbert Stargard on August 30, 1930 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc. After marriage they lived in Oconomowoc until 1959 when they moved to Cataract. She worked in the Sparta area.
Marie was a member of the Shamrock Homemakers, and the Altar Guild of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Cataract.
She passed away Thursday, March 14, at Morrow Memorial Home at the age of 86 years, one month and 24 days.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, on September 11, 1991; a grandson, Joel; her parents; six brothers, Cevie, Glen, Donald, Vernard, Warren and Norman; and seven sisters, Laurette, Florence, Helen, Sylvia, LaVern, Lorraine, and Shirley.
She is survived by two son, Robert H. Stargard of Oconomowoc and Richard A. Stargard of Tomah; a daughter, Mrs. George (Carolyn) Nagel of Oconomowoc; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 16, at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Cataract at 9 a.m. with Reverend Paul Kante officiating. Violet Kante was the organist.
Burial was in the LaBelle Cemetery, Oconomowoc, with the following serving as pallbearers: Honorary - Andy Stargard, Vera Evans, Eloise Jensen, Joan Dauksavage and Sheila Brookins; Active - George Nagel, Jeff Ranta, Mark Stargard, Terry Jacobosky, George Luther Jr. and Lee Follendorf.
The Lanham-Kann Funeral Home, Sparta, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Marie Evelyn Stargard, 86, of Cataract, passed away on March 14 at Morrow Memorial Home.
She was born on Jan. 20, 1910, in town of Manchester, Black River Falls, to Ernest and Rose (Rudkin) Thompson.
She married Herbert Stargard on Aug. 30, 1930, at St. Paul's Lutheran Chruch in Oconomowoc. He preceded her in death.
She worked in the Sparta area. Marie was a member of the Shamrock Homemakers and the Alter [sic] Guild at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Cataract.
She is survived by two sons, Robert H. Stargard, Oconomowoc, and Richard A. Stargard, Tomah; one daughter, Carolyn (George) Nagel, Oconomowoc; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; other relatives; and friends.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Joel; six brothers, Cevie, Glen, Donald, Vernard, Warren, Norman; seven sisters, Laurette, Florence, Helen, Sylvia, LaVern, Lorraine and Shirley.
Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Cataract, with the Rev. Paul Kante officiating. Burial was in the LaBelle Cemetery, Oconomowoc.
The Lanham-Kann Funeral Home of Sparta served the family.
