Narrative
In Christian Metzger: Founder of an American Family, p175 and p182, John Weible is listed as marrying Anna Thomas, of Tuscarawas Cty, Ohio. She is noted as being the sister of Rev. David F. Thomas, who married John's younger sister, Anna Weible. This, of course, can lead to some confusion, as that means historically there were two different Anna Weibles in the same region (one by birth, one by marriage) in their generational timeframe.
That same text does not indicate how many children that John and Anna had, but does note they resided in "Van Wert, Ohio." In an attempt to try and confirm his descendancy, I reviewed the US Census records for him going back to shortly after he and Anna married.
1830 (Dover Twp, Tuscarawas Cty, Ohio) - (1)M, 20-30yrs; (1)F, 20-30yrs.
1840 (Dover Twp) - (1)M, 30-40yrs; (1)F, 30-40yrs; (2)F, 5-10yrs; (2)F, under 5yrs.
1850 (York Twp, Tuscarawas Cty, Ohio) - John, Anna; (4) girls ages 12-19yrs; (1) boy aged 5yrs.
-> It should be noted that the 1850 US Census forms for that area are highly faded and difficult to read.
1860 (Dover Twp) - John, Anna; Magdalena (31yrs), Anna (22yrs), Sarah (20yrs), Isaac (16yrs).
By the time of the 1870 US Census, John and Anna were living alone but for their eldest daughter, Magdalena (who remained unmarried until 1877). As far as I have been able to determine, John and Anna had four surviving daughters and one son.
