Narrative

Note: The family of Christina (Weible) Swihart

Christina's husband, Samuel Swihart, was about eighteen years older than her at the time of their marriage in 1855; living with them in the 1860 US Census, in addition to their young son Edward, are three other Swihart children (William V., age thirteen; John J., age eleven; Anne M., age nine) who were born to Samuel's first marriage. His first wife was Mary Weible, Christina's aunt (her father's younger sister), who appears to have died between 1851 and 1855 after giving him several children.

Of Christina's five known children, three appear to have had no surviving children:

- Frank married a widowed mother of two in her mid-forties when he himself was in his early thirties, and died ten days after his wedding.

- Sarah, Christina's only daughter, appears to have died in her mid-forties without marrying or having children.

- Samuel L. married in his early twenties to a young widow in her late twenties, but despite nearly forty years of marriage (before his wife's death), I have only found one reference to the two of them having a boy born early in their marriage and who died at the age of four. Samuel and his wife appear to have had no other children.

Christina's oldest son Edward had two daughters, and her youngest son Chester had one, and these three women appear to be the only grandchildren of Christina's. Of those three, Chester's daughter Edna appears to have never married, and Edward's older daughter Leah Gertrude married sometime in her twenties and was widowed in her mid-thirties with no children. Christina's only great-grandchildren were born to Ruth, youngest daughter of Edward - four surviving adults, at least three of whom would marry and give Christina at least nine second-great-grandchildren.
