Narrative
[Article "John Lucas Flack Thomas Family" from Wells County, Indiana Family History 1837-1992, p579.]
John Lucas Flack Thomas was born in the year 1817. He became a blacksmith by trade and lived and worked and raised his family a number of years in Zanesville, Indiana from back in the early 1850's.
John L.F. and his wife, Elizabeth, raised seven children, two boys and five girls, two of which were twins. Elizabeth was born in 1824.
Eldest child was Lee Richard Thomas who was born in 1847. Georgianne followed next and was born in 1851. Georgianne married into the Karns family. She was the mother of Blanche Karns who was a long time teacher in the Bluffton school system.
Ida was born in 1856 and was herself a teacher in the Bluffton grade schools for many years. Her birth was followed in 1858 by John H.G. The following year, 1859, a set of twin girls were born into the family. They were named Laura and Anne. Emma was the last of the seven children born into the John and Elizabeth Thomas family. She was born in 1864.
[Editing note - I strongly suspect the author of this article was not Jane Anne Thomas, though I think it likely the family photo that was included with the article was provided by her. Jane Anne's files contained significantly more, and more accurate, information on John L.F. and his family, including copies of his Civil War records which she'd acquired from the National Archives in 1978. Additionally, the article is too brief and doesn't match her writing style, so I imagine one of the distant Thomas cousins that was still resident in Wells Cty, Indiana in the early 1990s wrote this. Corrections: according to the information I have, Lee's middle name was Richmond, not Richard, and the twins Anne and Laura were born in 1849, not in 1859.]
