Narrative

There is a marriage record (dated 9 Mar 1837) in Tuscarawas Cty, Ohio for a Jacob Thomas to an Anna Mary Weible, which certainly complicates the research, as that would have been near the same time and in the same region that David F. Thomas married an Anna Weible (their marriage was around 1840-1842). Whether that record is for the Jacob that is an older brother of David F.'s, and what relation the two Anna Weibles have, is all unknown at this point.

ADDENDUM: I will need to check the Christian Metzger history to see if the Anna Mary Weible, wife of Jacob Thomas, is a descendant of Anna Nancy Metzger and Hans Jakob Weible. Jim Flack's work has uncovered an Ancestry.com tree that shows Anna Mary (wife of Jacob) as a daughter of Johannes Weible, also born in Bockten, Switzerland. If that's accurate (or if I can't find substantiation for her descendancy from Anna Nancy Metzger), then I think it more likely that Jacob Thomas married a cousin of the two Weible siblings who married Jacob's siblings David F. Thomas (Anna Weible) and Anna Thomas (John Weible).

SECOND ADDENDUM: Having re-checked the Christian Metzger text, I don't find reference to Jacob Thomas or his wife Anna Mary Weible. As both Anna Thomas and David Thomas are mentioned as marrying into this line, I think it fairly certain that Jacob's wife was not a daughter of Anna Nancy Metzger and Hans Jakob Weible. Given the locations and timing, though, it seems fairly certain that she would have been a cousin of David's and Anna's spouses.

One thing is for certain - Jacob's wife is not present in the 1850 US Census record for his household, suggesting that she must have died sometime after the birth of their youngest child. Her birthdate is not known at this time, as it does not appear to have been preserved in any of the records I have yet found.
