Narrative
Note: Researching Otto Schoen.
I have not located a grave or vital dates for Otto; his father's obituary names him as a surviving son (as of 1932) and resident of Rockford (presumably Illinois).
ADDENDUM: I've found a death record from Illinois that contains his vital dates, although the birth year may be off (1877 instead of 1876). His WWI draft card, though, also gives his birth year as 1877, and names his occupation as "master plumber." Additionally, both records name his spouse as Myrtle Schoen.
SECOND ADDENDUM: a 1930 US Census listing for an Otto Shoen (age 52) in Rockford, Winnebago Cty, Illinois shows him with Iowa-born wife Myrtle (age 41) and Illinois born children Margaret (age 16) and Kenneth (age 15). The same household members show up in the 1920 US Census listing for the same city.
Son Kenneth is listed as a head-of-household for the same residence as 1940, after the death of his father in 1935; he is there with his wife Evelyn, and they appear to be buried in Delafield Cemetery in Delafield, Waukesha Cty, Wisconsin. I'm uncertain as to the whereabouts of Margaret after 1930.
THIRD ADDENDUM: The index listing on the Dodge-Jefferson Counties Genealogical Society website indicates that Evelyn's maiden name was Diamond.
FOURTH ADDENDUM: Otto's obituary names his burial site as Greenland Cemetery, Rockford; there appears to be no Greenland Cemetery in Rockford, but there is a Greenwood Cemetery located there. I suspect this is where Otto is buried.
FIFTH ADDENDUM: In addition to his obituary, the 1900 US Census listing (while he still lived with his father) gives his occupation as "plumber."
Narrative
[Obituary for Otto Schoen, from the Oconomowoc Enterprise, 15 Nov 1935.]
The death of Otto Schoen, well known master plumber at Rockford, Ill., where he had resided for a number of years, formerly of Oconomowoc, occurred at his home in Rockford Monday evening, Nov. 11, his death following a long period of failing health and resulted from a complication of diseases.
Otto Schoen was born Oct. 10, 1877, in the town of Ixonia, Jefferson county, coming to Oconomowoc later with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schoen, and other members of the family, this city continuing to be the family home since.
Otto Schoen followed his trade as plumber in this city for several years, later engaging in this trade at Freeport and since 1918 has been a resident of Rockford.
Mr. Schoen is survived by his wife, whose maiden name was Miss Myrtle Thorn, and by one son, Kenneth, and a daughter, Margaret, of Rockford; three brothers and three sisters: William Schoen of Rhinelander; Louis Schoen of Oconomowoc; Joseph Schoen of California; Mrs. Frank Hoeft, and the Misses Laura and Emma Schoen of Oconomowoc.
The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Masonic cathedral in Rockford, the Rev. H.M. Bannen of Trinity Lutheran church of which Mr. Schoen had been a member, officiating. Mr. Schoen was also a member of the Masons and Masonic services were in charge of George Grant. Interment was in Greenland cemetery, Rockford.
