Narrative

[Obituary for Etta Plasterer, from the Huntington Democrat, 19 May 1887; posted online to the FindaGrave.com website.]

THE HUNTINGTON DEMOCRAT
Huntington, Indiana
Thursday ~ May 19, 1887

Mrs. Etta (Ettie) Plasterer, wife of George Plasterer of Union Twp., and a daughter of Jerry Young, died on Thursday last from child birth, being aged but 18 years.

The funeral occurred Friday and the motherless babe died during the funeral services.

[Editing note - The obituary misreports the surname of Etta's father as "Young" instead of "Smith. I don't know whether the error is due to a mistaken transcription from the archived newspaper, or whether the mistake was present in the original publication due to some other mix-up, though the remote nature of Union Twp from the city of Huntington makes the second possibility more likely in my mind. Other records, notably Etta and George's marriage record, make her parentage quite clear.]
