[Obituary for Mrs. Agnes Bayha, paper unknown but presumed to be a Bluffton, Indiana publication; clipping from the files of Jane Anne Thomas.]

[headline] Death of Mrs. Agnes Bayha

Mrs. Agnes Bayha, one of he oldest residents of the city, died this morning at four o'clock. She had been a sufferer from Brights disease and had been confined to her bed for about a month. During the past week she sank rapidly, and this morning she passed peacefully away.

She was born in Wertenberg [sic], Germany March 15th, 1815, and in 1813 she came with her parents to this country. She married George Bayha, at Pittsburg [sic], May 1863 and they moved to Bluffton in 1852.

The arrangements have not been made for the funeral , but due announcement will be given.

[Editor's note - a few of the years were printed with transposed digits, as her immigration occurred in or around 1831 and her marriage in 1836.]

Narrative

Note: Spelling of Agnes Hablitzel's surname

The obituary (Bluffton Chronicle, 31st Aug 1910) for her daughter, Mary Magdalene (Bayha) Tribolet gives Agnes' maiden name as Hohlitzne or Hoblitzne. In most of Jane Anne Thomas' notes and writings, Agnes' maiden name is spelled Hoblitzel or Hablitzel.

The transcribed "Deutschland, Geburten und Taufen, 1558-1898" index (via the familysearch.org website) gives her parents' names as Johann Georg Hablizel and Christina Brodbekin, with a paternal grandfather's name listed as "Jergen."
