agnes-hablitzel-ambrotype

Narrative

Ambrotype photograph of Agnes (Hablitzel) Bayha. The original glass plate is uncoated (using a dark brown swatch of cloth for a backing) and was wrapped in a decorative embossed metal shroud and kept in a wood-and-leather keepsake case. The other half of the case contains an ambrotype photo of Johan George Bayha Jr., her husband.

Because of the relatively short time during which ambrotypes were common, this photo is presumed to be from around 1860.
