He was a conscientious and considerate member of the Family. Lydia Jane Huffman Hite, in her nineties, writing of the privations that came when her father Isaac Huffman died 1854 leaving eight small children, said "Uncle Jacob helped us and took us under his protection." He became a resident of the Weible Colony at Dover, Ill.
