Narrative
Note: Margaret Ann (Weible) Bickett and family
Despite a relatively complete accounting of Margaret's residences for nearly the entirety of her life, there are some definite gaps in establishing both more specific and accurate vital dates for Margaret and her husband Andrew, and in determining a complete accounting of her descendancy (or even the total number of children and grandchildren born to her).
Margaret resided with her parents through their residences in Ohio, and in her mid-twenties married Andrew Jackson Bickett in Wood Cty, Ohio in the spring of 1873. Their oldest, son James Ebenezer, was born just over six months later. The family relocated to Berlin Twp, Bureau Cty, Illinois (near many of Margaret's relatives from the wider Weible family) as counted in the 1880 US Census, now joined by young daughters Elizabeth and Lotta (or similar). By 1900, the family had moved to nearby Dover in Bureau Cty, though this time the household included only her husband, her youngest daughter Blanche, and Margaret's aged father Jacob Weible, now a widower in his seventies.
By 1910, the household (now only Margaret, Andrew, and Blanche) had moved to Lincoln Twp, Comanche Cty, Oklahoma, and five years later Margaret and Andrew had moved to Cedar Rapids, Linn Cty, Iowa. By 1920, she and Andrew had moved to Linn, Marshall Cty, Iowa, and by 1930 the two of them had settled into the Union Soldiers' Home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Cty, Oklahoma, where Andrew would pass away in 1931. Sometime after his death, Margaret moved to Langley, Mayes Cty, Oklahoma, where she lived with her son James and his wife Myrtle, until her death in 1944.
Of her four children, I have found somewhat complete accounting only for James; details can be found in the notes on his file. I have found little information for her daughters, with no sure idea whether any of them married or had children.
- The actual spelling or even form of Lotta's name is not known; there is an Ohio birth record that names her "Lota," and on the 1880 US Census form her name appears to be written as "Lois Elis" or similar. I have not found any record of her after that census listing, so whether she died young or was married prior to the 1900 US Census (when she would have been about twenty-three) is unknown.
- Elizabeth, or "Lizzie," appears only in the 1880 US Census record for the family, and I have not found further records. Like her older sister, she may have married by the time of the 1900 US Census, when she would have been about twenty-one years old.
- Blanche, the youngest known child of the family, was born several years after Elizabeth, and was counted with her parents in the 1900 and 1910 US Censuses, accompanying the family at least as far as their move to Oklahoma. After that, I have not found further record of her, so whether she survived and married is unknown to me.
Thus far I have only been able to confirm three grandchildren of Margaret's - the three daughters born to her son James Ebenezer Bickett. I believe at least one of those girls married and had at least one child (a daughter named Margaret), though this is unconfirmed at this time. Whether Margaret's line has continued to this day is not currently known to me.
