Narrative

I have some small doubt as to whether I have the "correct" Herman Schwantes chosen for the later records (after the 1880 US Census listing for his parents' household), as that was a more common name in Wisconsin in the mid-to-late 19th century than I might have expected. The FindaGrave.com website alone lists seven men named Herman Schwantes buried in Wisconsin, all born within twenty-five years of each other - and three of those are in Dodge Cty. Of those three, only one is of the correct age to be Herman, son of Frederich and Louisa Schwantes, so I think I have the correct one.

I have not yet found his household in the 1940 US Census, but as that listing would show Herman and his wife Louise both in their early sixties, I don't expect to find any children suddenly appearing in their household. None were listed with them in the years 1910 through 1930, so I believe they had no surviving children.

I have also not yet found a marriage date for Herman and Louise, nor do I have her maiden name as of yet; their marriage likely occurred in Dodge Cty, and must have been between 1905 and 1910, as Herman was still living with his parents in 1905.

ADDENDUM: Herman's marriage record names his parents "Friedrich and Luise Schwantes," and his wife Louise Gensmer, so I believe I have the right Herman.
