[headline] Joseph Call Dies Thursday Evening

Joseph W. Call, 88, a resident of Wells County for 75 years, died at 5:20
p.m. Thursday at his home on Craigville, Route 1 following an extended
illness.

Born in Huntington County, December 22, 1873, he was a son of John J. and
Nancy Jane Dewill-Call, and was married to Alberta Vaughn August 19, 1897.

Mr. Call attended the Pleasant Valley Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are five sons, Ellis and Earl W. Call, both of
Decatur, Elton V. Call of Indianapolis, Edward L. Call of Bluffton, and Enos P.
Call of Big Lake; one daughter, Mrs. Forest (Edith) Kramer of Huntington; 26
grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Joe Sovine of
Craigville, Route 1. One son, three brothers and two sisters are deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Pleasant Valley
Church, the Rev. Homer Studebaker officiating, assisted by the Rev. Donald
Orr. Burial will be in the Shady Cemetery. Friends may call at the Goodwin
Funeral Home in Bluffton after 7 p.m. today until noon Sunday, when the
body will be removed to the church.

 

Narrative

Joseph's obituary gives his birthplace as Huntington Cty, Indiana, though his marriage record states that he was born in Well Cty, Indiana. I would expect that he was born in Union Twp, which lies across the county line, which is probably the source of the confusion.
