[headline] HEART ATTACK TAKES LIFE OF EARL H. FORST.
[second line] Outstanding Bloomfield Merchant Dies Suddenly At His Home Here.

Earl H. FORST, outstanding Bloomfield merchant, died suddenly, yesterday morning of a heart attack.

Mr. FORST had been in ill health for the past year, but he and Mrs. FORST had enjoyed a vacation trip only two weeks ago and his health seemed to be improved. The death came as a shock to his many friends in Bloomfield.

He came to Bloomfield in 1914 and established the FORST 5 & 10c Store. During the years of his participation in the variety store business, he had developed one of the most modern and successful stores in Southern Indiana.

Mr. FORST was born in Bluffton, Indiana, November 16, 1888 the son of Emery and Flora FORST. He was schooled in Bluffton and was engaged in business with his father before coming to Bloomfield. In 1906 he was united in marriage to Nellie COX, of Peneto, to which union were born two sons, Fred FORST of Knightstown and William of Indianapolis, who survive. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Linda Ann FORST of Knightstown; one sister, Mrs. Homer WILTSE and his mother of Dayton, Ohio.

Funeral services will be conducted at the home at 9 a.m., Friday. Following services here the body will be taken to Bluffton for burial. Pallbearers will be Allen G. PATE, Glenn STALCUP, D. Wayne MILES, Jack DOWD, R. W. SIMS and Ned SPINKS. The courthouse and Bloomfield business houses will be closed tomorrow morning between the hours of 9 and 10 a.m.

The Lester Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.

[Editing note: The transcribed obituary on the Ancestry.com message board mistakenly gives Nellie's maiden name as Cox, not Cook.]

[headline] E.H. Forst's Death Due Heart Attack
[second line] Funeral Services Held At Bloomfield; Burial Here at Fairview This P.M.

Further facts concerning the death of Earl H. Forst, 54, a former Bluffton man, at his home city of Bloomfield Wednesday forenoon were learned with the arrival in this city late Thursday of his mother, Mrs. Emery Forst and his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Homer B. Wiltse, all of Dayton, O., to attend the funerla rites here this afternoon at Fairview cemetery.

The brother-in-law stated that the message to them was to the effect that death was sudden, from a heart attack. A dispatch from Bloomfield later confirmed this fact.

Born in this city, the decedent grew to young manhood here and his marriage to Miss Nellie Cook, of Poneto, took place while he was a resident of this city. The family left Bluffton in 1914. At his death Mr. Forst was proprietor of the Ben Franklin store at Bloomfield.

Surviving in addition to the widow, mother and sister, are two sons, Sgt. Frederick Forst, of Knightstown, of the Indiana state police force, and William, an auditor in the state office at Indianapolis of the AAA.

Funeral services were held at Bloomfield this forenoon and the cortege departed immediately for this city. Graveside services were arranged at the cemetery.

Mr. Forst had long been active in Bloomfield business circles and stores of that city were closed during the funeral services.

The mother of Mr. Forst makes her home at Dayton withher daughter and son-in-law. The latter is a cost accountant in that city with the Master Electric Co.
