Funeral services for Corporal Fred E. Forst, 42, a state police officer 18 years and a Knightstown resident since 1936, were conducted Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with burial in Glen Cove cemetery. Rev. Louis Schumacher conducted services, and Butcher Funeral Home had charge of the funeral.

Corporal Forst died Sunday at St. Vincent's hospital in Indianapolis. He had been in declining health for two years, and had been critical the past three months.

Mr. Forst was born October 28, 1910, in Bluffton, and his family moved to Bloomfield when he was four years of age. He was educated in the Bloomfield schools. He was married November 18, 1933 to Vivian Wright of Linton and in 1935 he was appointed as an Indiana State Trooper. Mr. and Mrs. Forst moved to Knightstown in 1936.

Survivors include the widow, Vivian, a daughter, Linda Anne and a son, Rickey, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Nellie Forst and a brother, William L., both of Bloomfield.

Corporal Forst was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Police at Shelbyville, the Elks Lodge at Connersville, and St. Rose Catholic Church.

Pallbearers were fellow officers from the Connersville State Police Post, including Elmer H. Cord, Elmer H. Hollenback, Robert Dillon, William Pickering, Lucien Bever, Frank Benz, Eugene Short, and Howard Dickmeyer.
