Narrative

27. Abner (4) Cutler (Thomas (3), Thomas (2), James(1)) was born in Sudbury, Mass., July 16,1701. He married, December 8, 1735, Anna Haynes of Sudbury, and settled at Rutland, Mass., where he was engaged in farming. He died January 23, 1751, from the effects of a wound received from an ax. An order was issued March 24, 1751, for the appraisal of his estate, which amounted to £361 13s., one-third of which was assigned to his widow Anna. In 1766, she sold her real estate in Rutland, removed to Guilford, Vt., and resided with her son Thomas. She died at the age of about 100, and was buried in the old cemetery on the hill in Guilford Hollow. Children born at Rutland, Mass.:
66. i. Thomas (5), b. Sept. 17, 1736; d. Oct., 1835, at Cooperstown, N. Y.
67. ii. Joel, b. March 19, 1738; d. in Halifax, Vt., June 5, 1821.
iii.Anna, b. Sept. 1, 1740; m. Abijah Rogers of Rutland, Sept. 22, 1763; sett. in Guilford, Vt. One of their daughters m. Luther Weld, and had Calvin (6), Isaac (6), and Luther (6). Isaac m. and sett, in the southwest part of Guilford, where he engaged in farming; had 3 ch.— a dau., who d., a. abt. 20; a son, who resides on the old homestead, and Calvin, who m. and resides in Brattleboro, Vt. Luther m. and resided in Coleraine previous to 1832, when he removed to Brattleboro, where he d.; had Luther R. Weld— b. 1825; resided in Brattleboro until 1850, when he sett. at Faribault, Minn., and is now one of its wealthiest citizens.
68. iv. James, b. Feb. 18, 1743; d. in Marlboro, Vt.
v. Abner, b. April 19, 1745. An Abner Cutler m., in Brookfield, Mass., Oct. 24, 1769, Hannah Peters; his name appears on the old muster rolls of the Revolutionary War.
vi. Eunice, b. April 4, 1747; she, or sister Abigail, m. -- Toby.
69. vii. Silas, b. April 23, 1749; d. at Stowe, Vt., in 1821.
viii. Abigail, b. May 3, 1751, posthumous.
