Narrative

Note: The children of Anna Alecta (Welch) Woodward

That I've been able to determine, Anna and her husband Charles had only two children - eldest daughter Ruth and son C. Arthur (whose first name I suspect to have been Charles). I have not found any of the four of them in the 1940 US Census as of yet, though I would expect they would be located somewhere in Erie Cty, New York. Additionally, the information I have on their deaths and burials comes almost entirely from their listings on the FindaGrave.com website, and most of their listings do not include photos of the gravestones nor citations for any supplemental information, so I cannot confirm it at this time.

Starting with Arthur, the first death in the family, after his appearance with his parents and sister in the 1930 US Census he seems to have died in 1937 at the age of thirty-two, and is buried in the same cemetery as his parents would be (Oakwood Cemetery, East Aurora, Erie Cty, New York) some decades later. I have not found any marriage records for him, nor any records naming him the father of a bride or groom some years later, so I suspect he had not married and had no children. I have not found a birth or death record for him, nor does his listing on the FindaGrave.com website give specific vital dates or a photo of his gravestone.

According to their burial listings on FindaGrave.com, Anna and Charles died in 1954 and 1956, respectively, though I have not found obituaries or death records for either of them thus far. Like Arthur, their listings don't include photos of their gravestones, and only Anna's contains any specific information on vital dates or places of birth or death.

Ruth's listing on FindaGrave.com links to her parents and includes a photo of the gravestone, along with her maiden name (spelled properly) and the supplemental description "Daughter of Charles and Anna Woodard" [sic]. The listing includes her vital dates and locations but does not give citations for any of this informaiton; the gravestone names her "Ruth W. Turner," and she is buried with J. Corydon Turner.

The listing for Mr. Turner names him Dr. John Corydon Turner with complete vital dates and locations (but again without citations), and contains supplemental information that states he was a veteran of WWI and was a veterinary doctor. The supplemental information also reads as if at least part of it was quoted from an obituary, as three survivors are named (sisters Hazel Smith and Inez Greenlund, wife Ruth) with three family members preceding him in death (two sisters and a brother).

Further searches for Mr. Turner bring up both a 1930 and 1940 US Census record for John C. Turner and an Iowa-born wife Winifred (or Faith W.) Turner; this would be Winifred Faith (Streeter) Turner, whom he married in Chautauqau Cty, New York on 22 May 1921. I am uncertain what became of their marriage after 1940, and whether Mr. Turner was divorced or a widower upon his marriage to Ruth. I can say that I have not found any marriage records for Ruth, and as she must have been no younger than thirty-eight at the time of her marriage to Mr. Turner, I suspect she also had no children.
