Narrative

In the 1910 US Census, Keith is listed in the household of his uncle Lewis S. Thomas. Keith's mother, Mollie (Kline) Thomas, died three months after his birth; family oral history recounts that she died from complications at his birth. With a farm to run and four older children (ranging in ages from six to seventeen), Keith's father Monroe had his hands quite full, so it's easy to imagine Monroe's brother and sister-in-law (Lewis and his wife Rosanna) taking in the baby Keith to raise for some time.
