Narrative

Jim Flack notes that the burials for both of the wives of Jacob Frederick Gimlin can be located, but that Jacob's burial is in some question. The second wife, Ella, is buried with a previous husband in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Odon, Daviess Cty, Indiana, while Jacob's first wife, Susan, is buried in Raglesville Cemetery, Raglesville, also in Daviess Cty. Jacob's name is on the shared stone with Susan, but the death date is blank. While this might indicate that Jacob is buried elsewhere, as has been my experience in a few cases (when a span of many years separates the spouses' deaths), it might also indicate that there was no living family still around and involved with Jacob's life to make sure the engraving was completed. I know of a few cases where I suspect this might be the explanation, but I have no confirmation in those incidences or in this one.
