Robert L. Hinklin, Sr., aged 79, of Plainwell Pines Nursing Home, died April 22, 1990 at Burgess Hospital, Kalamazoo. He was born February 14, 1911 in Garrett, IN. He lived in Michigan for over 25 years. He formerly lived in Garrett, IN, Green Lake, Caledonia, and Kalamazoo, MI. He was a mail clerk for the U.S. Postal Transportation Service for 31 years, retiring in 1967. After retirement he worked as a scientific store keeper at Grand Valley State University, Allendale, MI. Surviving are two sons, Rev. Robert and Jean Hinklin Jr. of Portage, MI, Dennis and Wanda Hinklin of Kalamazoo; one daughter, Pamela Hinklin of Northridge, CA; one sister, Gaytha Luttman of Corunna, IN; four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Myrtle Cox Hinklin. Graveside services will be held at 3pm Wednesday at Christian Union Cemetery, Garrett, IN, his son, Rev. Robert Hinklin Jr. will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 3pm at Mckee-Miles Funeral Home, Garrett, IN.

Narrative

His obituary mentions three surviving children but no spouse, either preceding or surviving him. It seems like he was divorced from his children's mother, and may not have ever remarried.
