Narrative
Note: Minerva Shaw
I have not yet found records for Minerva Shaw, eldest daughter of James and Elizabeth (Burton) Shaw, after the 1860 US Census listing for her father's household in Ward Twp, Randolph Cty, Indiana. There is mention of woman by that name in the History of Randolph County, Indiana (E. Tucker, 1882, p146) in connection with the Christian Disciples' Church in nearby Winston (also in Randolph Cty). Here, she is mentioned as one of the first members of the church in 1866, and later chosen as a deaconess in 1875. Given the age and proximity - she would have been about twenty-four at the church's founding - I believe this Minerva to be the same one as mentioned above (daughter of James and Elizabeth). In both instances, she is named Minerva Shaw, suggesting that, at least by her mid-thirties, she was unmarried and likely without children.
I have not yet found further residency information for Minerva, nor a death date or burial location.
ADDENDUM: The reference in the History of Randolph County, Indiana to Minerva Shaw may well have been the wife of Gideon Shaw, and not the daughter of James Nelson Shaw.
