Francis G. Daley, 67, Shorewood's former clerk-treasurer and a pioneer in the village's growth, died Tuesday at St. Mary's hospital of complications after a stroke. He had been in the hospital since October.

Daley, 4483 N. Cramer st., Shorewood, retired as clerk-treasurer in September, 1967, after 40 years' service to Shorewood's government.

Most of his childhood was spent in his native North Lake, Wis. He attended the old Marquette academy here and later the University of Wisconsin and Marquette university.

In 1927 he became a surveyor's helper for Shorewood's engineering department and advanced into the administrative end of local government when he joined the village clerk's staff. In the early depression years, he helped co-ordinate public works projects.

He was a member of the Shorewood Men's club, Knights of Columbus and St. Robert Catholic church.

Although partly paralyzed from a stroke in 1966, Daley spent several hours a day at his desk until retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel; two sons, F. Gerald, of Juneau, Wis., and Bernard of South Milwaukee; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Anne) Grant, Los Angeles; six brothers, Harold, John and William, all of Milwaukee; Joseph, and Robert, both of North Lake, and Raphael, of Miami, and two sisters, Mrs. Winslow (Magdalen) Olin, Glendale, and Mrs. John (Helen) Leonard, Dousman.

Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at teh Feerick funeral home, 2025 E. Capitol dr., Shorewood, and at 10 a.m. at St. Robert, 2224 E. Capitol dr., Shorewood. The body will be in the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
