Narrative

[Marriage announcement for Alma Pieper and William Breseman, from the Loyal Tribune, 17 May 1917; posted online to the wiclarkcountyhistory.org website.]

A pretty wedding took place Wednesday afternoon, May 9, 1917, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in this village (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.) at 2 p.m., when Miss Alma A Pieper and Mr. William E. Breseman, were united in marriage, Rev. E. Kemena performing the ceremony.

The couple was attended by Miss Lorna Pieper as maid of honor and Nathan Desslock as best man; Misses Gertrude Lindow, Elsie Rohloff and Nell Dorst acted as bridesmaids, and Alfred Anding, Reinhardt Pieper and Arthur Lautenbach as groomsmen.

The bride wore white satin, with lace, ribbon and rhinestone trimmings, wore a veil and carried a shower bouquet of bridal roses. The bridesmaids were dressed in white.

After the ceremony they repaired to the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Pieper, where a fine wedding dinner was served. There was a large number of guests present and many beautiful gifts were received by the happy couple. The bride is well and favorably known in the vicinity of Beaver and Loyal, Clark County, Wis.. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Breseman of Granton and has been employed at Woodside cheese factory and in his stay in Beaver has made many friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Breseman left today for a wedding trip to Altoona, Eau Claire and other points. They will be at home after June 1 near Granton, Clark County.

The guests for out of town who attended the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Breseman, Miss Nell Dorst, Mr. and Mrs. H. Schlinsog, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Garbisch and daughter, Miss Lydiea Schrier, Oscar Breseman, Mrs. J. Lautenbach, Edward and Arthur Lautenbach, Mr. and Mrs. A. Lindow and children, Alfred Anding and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Weisner, all of Granton, Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Anding and son Verland of Altoona, Mr. and Mrs. H. Wordell of Chili, Mr. and Mrs. H. Dekarske of Marshfield, Miss Hertha Pieper, Otto and Fred Nagel of Hustisford, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gotter and Richard Gotter of Rozelville.

The Tribune joins with friends in wishing the young couple a long and prosperous life.

Narrative

In her mother's obituary in 1939, Alma is named Mrs. William Breseman; in her father's obituary in 1950, she's named Mrs. R.F. Gotter. Alma's first husband, William Breseman, died in 1945, while Alma passed away in 1956; her burial listing on the FindaGrave.com website names her Alma Gotter.
