Narrative

Note: the marriages and children of Zelma Eileen Hillegas

Zelma was married twice to James William Simmons - first in early 1937, divorcing sometime in 1939, and then again in early 1940, divorcing again in late 1942 or early 1943. (James would go on to marry twice more - in April 1945, to Erma Marie Krug, with that marriage ending quickly, as he married again in Jun 1946 to Edna Lucille Benson Moody, to whom he appears to have remained married until death.)

Zelma and James appear to have had only one child during their marriages - Beverly Lynn, born eight months after their second marriage. The three of them were counted in the 1940 US Census as living with Zelma's parents and younger sister.

Zelma remarried to Earl Monroe Wiley, and while I have not yet found a marriage record for the two of them, though her obituary gives their marriage as taking place 22 Jan 1944 in Marion, Grant Cty, Indiana. Zelma and Earl appear to have had two daughters, Denise and Pamela. Pamela is named as preceding both Zelma and her older half-sister Beverly in death, and Beverly is given the maiden name "Simmons-Wiley" in her own obituary, suggesting that Earl may well have legally adopted her at some point.
