Narrative
Note: Alice Dailey's first husband, William Little, their son, and Alice's death
Alice Dailey was married first to William Little in Huntington Cty, Indiana on 5 Feb 1891; their son, Monroe Little, was counted as living with Alice and her second husband (and listed with the surname "Call") in the 1900 US Census. In trying to determine whether Alice was divorced or widowed from her first husband, I found an article in the Huntington Weekly Herald (6 Nov 1891, p1) recounting in particularly lurid detail the death of William Little by an accidental shotgun discharge. Little had left the unloaded weapon out for cleaning, and another resident of the farm (on which the Little family were tenants) loaded the gun to hunt, changed his mind about hunting, and left the loaded weapon where he had found it. Little had then begun to clean the gun by inspecting the muzzle to be sure it was clear, and in his handling the gun discharged into his face.
Other than the newspaper article, I have not found further record of William's death or burial. I have also not found record of Alice's death or burial, though I will note that several online pedigrees and family trees give her death as occurring in 1905. On the record of Alice's marriage to William Call, William stated only that his first marriage ended in her death, without specifying a date.
