OBIT: Joseph N. Imlay Sr., 84, of Springfield, Illinois died Thursday, September 11, 1997 at Saint John's Hospice. He was born October 25, 1912, in Janesville, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph and Lorena Becker-Imlay. He married Marcella Grace Robinson December 25, 1932. She died September 11, 1996.
Mr Imlay, a resident of Springfield for most of his life Retired from the IL Secretary of State' office after 30 years service. Previously he had worked as a photographer/reporter for the State Journal-Register and the Springfield Sun. He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include four sons, Joseph Imlay Jr., Robert L. Imlay and Larry Imlay, all of Springfield, Gerald Keith Imlay of Clarksville, TN. Two daughters, Linda K. Nudo of Pleasant Plains, IL and Janet S. Imlay of Springfield. 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 12 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Cremation and burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield, IL. Staab Funeral Home of Springfield was in charge of arrangements.
