Lydia Jane (Huffman) Hite has resided in Santa Paula 70 years, and has been active in many Church, Temperance, and other Community affairs of that city. She celebrated her 89th birthday by an airplane ride. As late as 1938 she attended to paying her taxes and other business herself. "She was too busy with her family," says her daughter, Mary Fred, "for much social life. But never too busy to minister to the sick and the needy - or to care for other children, if need be. Many a one she has helped into the world, and many a one she has prepared for burial when life was over." This help has been extended to her sisters and a brother, as well.
