Narrative
Note: John Huffman
In the text Christian Metzger: Founder of an American Family 1682-1942 (p182), the entry for John reads:
7. John Huffman
b. 8/7-1848, Stone Creek, Ohio
d. ---- 1917, Dover, Ohio
m. ---- ---- (1) Loretta Duncan, and had two children,
Carrie and Grace.
m. (2) Lucinda Sparting and had three children, Bess,
Emma, and Alta.
The 1850 US Census placed him in York Twp, Tuscarawas Cty, Ohio with his parents and siblings, but after his father's death in 1854, John (like his younger brother Daniel) was counted in a neighboring family's household in the 1860 US Census (that of Mathias Fisher and family). Unlike Daniel, though, I have not found further records for John after that point, nor any records for his wives or children as named in the text above.
I had performed my initial searches all within the constraints of Ohio records, assuming from the text (with his death coming in Dover) that, unlike his mother and several of his siblings, John had not left Ohio, but when I found no trace of John's family in those searches I expanded my searches to other states' records. While my research has by no means been exhaustive, I have still been unable to find any likely match in the searches so far.
