Arnola Thorn, 78, Posey Hill St., Roanoke, died at 1:50 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 9, 2000) at the St. Anthony Medical Center, Crown Point.

Mrs. Thorn was employed by Memcor and owned and was an operator at Arnola's Beauty Shop, Roanoke. She was a member of the Seminary United Methodist Church, Roanoke, and a member of the Roanoke American Legion Auxiliary.

She was born on May 15, 1922, in Roanoke, to Garrett and Mable [sic] Smith Hess. On Jan. 15, 1943, in Roanoke, she married Walter B. Thorn. He died on July 31, 1998.

Survivors include a son, Lynn Thorn, Ringwood, N.J.; a brother, Carl Hess, Yoder; a sister, Mary Schlaudraff, Markle; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Thorn; a brother, George Hess; a two sisters, Bertha Davis and Betty Mendenhall.

Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Monday at Roanoke Memorial Chapel, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Martha Lyon will officiate at the service.

Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke.

Preferred memorials are to Seminary United Methodist Church, 285 Seminary St., Roanoke, IN 46783.
