Narrative

Resident with Joshua and wife Lydia Ellen (Sink) Beaber in the 1900 US Census listing was a grandson Virgil, surname Beaber. In the 1910 US Census listing, Virgil was given the surname Welsh. Also in the 1910 listing was a granddaughter Martha, surname Ormsby. Virgil is presumably the son of Cora, as I haven't identified any record for her past some initial census records in her father's household. Martha, I believe, is the daughter of Effie, who married Elmore Ormsby but for whom I cannot find any further record past their marriage.

In the 1920 US Census listing, their household also includes Viola Beaber, age 9, with no indication as to her relationship to the rest of the family. She's too young to be a natural daughter and so seems likely to be a granddaughter, but if she truly bore the Beaber surname then I would assume that either one of the daughters of Ellen and Joshua had a child out-of-wedlock and didn't give her the father's surname, or she may be the daughter of Edward (who would have been nearly thirty at the time of her birth). She may also be an adopted daughter of Joshua and Ellen, or even possibly some other relation (or unrelated) and just had the surname attributed to her in the census listing. I have found no other record for her in searches since.
