Narrative

[Obituary for Elizabeth White Power, from the Bluffton News-Banner, date unknown.]

Mrs. William Power, 44, the former Miss Elizabeth White of West Ohio St., this city, and at one time the News-Banner's society editor, died recently of lung cancer at South Miami, Fla.

She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles White.

Surviving are her husband, a cross country trucker, and three daughters by a previous marriage. Two of the daughters, Janice and Judy, are married and reside at South Miami. The third is Sheri Mead, at home.

Mrs. Power was a member of the Bluffton High School graduation class of 1932.

Funeral services and burial were at South Miami.

Narrative

I have not yet located a second marriage record for Elizabeth White, nor have I found either a death record for her first husband nor a divorce record for her first marriage, so I do not know what ended their marriage. I've also not located burials for Elizabeth or either of her husbands, nor further records after 1945 for any of her daughters. Elizabeth's obituary (in 1958) states that the eldest two were married and living in Florida, while the youngest was "at home," as she would have been only fourteen or fifteen at the time of her mother's death.

ADDENDUM: I've since located the divorce record for Elizabeth (White) Meade and Arnet Meade, along with his death record in 1969. Additionally, I've found records indicating that Arnet had been married previously (to Laura Robinson), and had at least three children from that marriage (Ralph, Mary and Wanda).

I've not yet found a marriage record for Elizabeth and her second husband, William Power.
