Narrative
[Obituary for Edmund Watterson, from the Oconomowoc Enterprise, 19 Aug 1948, p3.]
[headlline] Edmund Watterson Claimed By Death
Edmund Watterson, 57, 656 E. Juneau Ave., died last Friday at St. Mary's Hospital, Watertown. Funeral services were held Monday from Lyke Funeral Home to St. Jerome's Church at 9 a.m. The Rev. G. E. McGinnity officiated. Burial was in St. Jerome's Cemetery.
He was born July 10, 1891, in Alderly, Town of Ashippun, the son of Edward and Mary Jane Daley Watterson. On May 10, 1926 he was united in marriage to the former Regina Meitner at St. Henry's Church, Watertown. A carpenter by trade, Mr. Watterson had lived in Mapleton and Oconomowoc all of his life. He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of St. Jerome's Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Francis and David; and one sister, Mrs. Walter Fulmer, Oconomowoc. Four children preceded him in death.
Narrative
In a few cases of research, his name is given as Edmund, and occasionally listed as Edmund Henry; it is thought that this is a mistaken assumption based on using his middle name as his called name.
Of Henry Edmund's children with wife Regina (Meitner) Watterson, only two survived to adulthood - Edmund Francis ("Waddy") married and had five children, while David never married and had no children prior to his death. Living memories of David have suggested he was not a fully functional adult.
