Ephriam Smith, 74 years old, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Fahl, at 908 Etna aveneue [sic], yesterday morning after being in ill health for a year.
Mr. Smith was born in Ohio on September 1, 1851, the son of Henry and Sarah Smith. When he was ten years old he came to Indiana with his parents. He was married on January 11, 1877, to Matilda A. Feightner [sic], and twelve children were born. Mrs. Smith died on October 11, 1909. One son is also deceased.
He had lived the last six years with Mrs. Donald Heiney, also a daughter, of Huntington, until a few days ago. He had then gone to the home of Mrs. Fahl. He was a member of the Church of God in Union township.
The following survive: children, Boston G. Smith of Fort Wayne, Mrs. Oscar Lantis of Huntington county, Fred D. Smith of Wells county, Mrs. George Messler of Huntington county, Mrs. Clem Kelsey of Markle, Emanuel M. Smith of Edgewater, Fla., Arthur E. Smith of Huntington county, Milo A. Smith of Huntington county, Mrs. Albert Fahl of this city, Chester R. Smith and Mrs. Donald Heinef [sic] of Huntington; brothers, John and Henry of Roanoke; a sister, Mrs. Julia Fogwell of Fort Wayne; 41 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
The funeral is to be conducted in the Church of God in Union township Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Ephraim Smith married Matilda Feighner, born June 18, 1858. (Refer to Dallas Feighner.) She was the daughter of Danul and Mary (Klingaman) Feighner. Mary was born in 1919 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Her father, being born in Adams County, Pennsylvania, near Gettysburg in 1804. Their [Ephraim and Matilda's] children were:
- Ida, who married Clem Kelsey of Markle;
- Arthur, who married Effie Hite, daughter of Elijah and [Surildia] (Call) Hite. Arthur's children are:
-> Helen (Mrs. Harold) Fusselman.
-> Leonard, (who married Opal Vollmar). Their children are:
->> Ron, who has two children,
->> and [Luwanna] Brooks, who has two children; Leonard lives two miles south on Rd. 3.
-> Jay who married Ruth Brumbaugh; their children are Ardith, Sonja and [Cheryl].
-> [Glen], who married Maxine Dolby. They have three children.
-> Vaughn, who married Mary Weaver (see Floyd Weaver family).
-> Hope, wife of Columbus "Garl" [Worster].
-> Delight, wife of Guy Wiley.
- Fred Smith, who married Laura Denney.
- Boston, who married Mary Houser.
- Manuel, whose wife was Verna Jones (sister to Dora Feighner). They had two boys: Carl and Arel.
- Milo, husband of Hazel Sprinkle and father of Mary (Mrs. Gilbert) Best.
- Minnie, who married George Messler.
- Oma married Albert Fahl, who had a store in Huntington. She is still living.
- Dora married a Lantis and they had two sons, Ernest and Clarence.
- Lola married Don Heiney. She is still living in Buchanan, Michigan.
- Chester married Edna Heaston.
