Services were held Sunday, February 12, 1978 in Ballinger Funeral Home, Rev. Russell Thompson officiating, for Fred L. Baker, 78, of 307 W. Ottawa St. Burial was in Otterbein Cemetery near Prospect. Mr. Baker died suddenly at his home at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 1978. A retired farmer, he was a part-time employee of Swartz Motor Sales. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church at Prospect.

Born October 1, 1899, in Marion County, he was a son of George and Victoria Hill Baker. September 26, 1922 he married the former Lulu Temple, who survives. In addition to his widow he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clay Tilton at LaRue and Mrs. Arlis Wasserbeck of Prospect; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren and a brother, Walter Baker of Marion.
