Narrative

Note: Record gap in 1940 for Cora Dell Brown's family

For some reason, I have been unable to find most of Cora's family (herself, her husband John, and their children of various ages) in the 1940 US Census, despite the fact that both parents were still alive and at least a few of the children were still young enough to be living at home in 1940. Even those adult children who were old enough to have moved away have proved difficult to find.

- Lester was living as a bachelor in a rented room in Fort Wayne, Allen Cty, Indiana in the 1930 US Census, just a few short months before marrying to Edna Schearer. I have not been able to find either of them in the 1940 US Census.

- Raymond was still living at home with his parents and siblings in 1930, but married in mid-1939 to Ellen Nash. I have not been able to find the couple in the 1940 US Census.

- Garth was also still living at home in 1930, and didn't marry until 1943. I have not been able to find him in the 1940 US Census.

- Velma was living with her parents in 1930, married in 1935, and is presumed to have divorced in 1938; she was living in Fort Wayne, Allen Cty, Indiana in 1940, residing with two sisters with the surname of Inskeep.

- Herman was living with his parents in 1930, and married in 1946. I have not been able to find him in the 1940 US Census.

- Marvin married in late 1939, and he and his wife Maxine were counted as living in Fort Wayne, Allen Cty, Indiana in the 1940 US Census.

- Robert was living with his parents in 1930, and his first marriage was in 1946; I have not been able to find him in the 1940 US Census.

- Betty was living with her parents im 1940, and married in 1947; I have not been able to find her in the 1940 US Census.
