Narrative

Everett's WWI draft registration cards and enlistment records give his birthdate as 19 Jul 1890, though his gravestone and his marriage record each give his birthdate as 19 Jul 1889.

Everett did not marry until he was thirty-three years old, to Minne Gertrude (Braden) Sands, who was fifteen years older than Everett. Minnie had first married Ephraim Sands in 1895, and the two of them had several children before Ephraim's death in 1916. Minne married briefly in December 1921 to Raymond Barnes, with a divorce following almost immediately afterwards, and she and Everett were married in September 1922.

Everett was not much older than Wilson Sands, the oldest of Minnie's sons from her first marriage - only eight years separated Wilson and Everett. Two of Minnie's sons from her marriage to Ephraim were counted as living with Minnie and Everett in the 1930 US Census, but by the time of the 1940 US Census, the couple appeared to be living alone. I believe they remained married until Minnie's death in 1948, though I have not confirmed this. I have also not found a death record or burial location for Minnie.
