Narrative
The text A Brief History of Bishop Jacob Mast and Other Mast Pioneers notes his marriage date as 16 Oct 1893, as well as giving his wife's birthdate as 16 Oct 1880. I suspect there is a transcription error somewhere, or possibly an issue with legibility of the copied text, as that would have been her thirteenth birthday.
Further complicating the issue is that the text lists four children born to them; the oldest, Helen Gertrude, is given a birthdate of 15 May 1888, or more than five years prior to their marriage, and when the parents would have only been not quite ages eleven and eight. The second through fourth children are given birthdates in 1900, 1902, and 1908. Further research will be necessary to straighten out this confusion.
