George H. Beckley, Sr., 82 of 47 Lynn Street, passed away at 11:22 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at his residence, following an illness of several years. Of the Protestant faith, he was a self-employed repairman.

Born May 22, 1898 at New Bloomington, he was a son of David W. and Effie Hill Beckley. Aug. 11, 1921 he married the former Bertha E. Black. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters and five sons: Helen Smith of Marion; Lena Murray of Belle Center; William, George and John, all of Richwood; Kenneth of Ashley and Earl Wesley of Jupiter, Fla.; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A daughter, grandchild, two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Rev. Clayton Coulter and Elmer Miller officiated services held Sunday, Sept. 28, in Ballinger Funeral Home. Burial was in Price Cemetery.
