Narrative

Note: Researching Gilbert Ralph Weible and family

I have not found a very complete set of records for Gilbert and his family, so there are some aspects of his history that are still unknown to me. The following summary is what I have found so far.

After being counted as a young boy in his father's household in the 1920 US Census, the next record I have found for Gilbert is his household in Melba, Ada Cty, Idaho in the 1940 US Census - a record that includes his Kansas-born wife Ruth and their children Edward (age seven, born in Kansas) and Dorothy Jean (age five, born in Idaho). I have not found a marriage record for the two of them, nor have I yet found confirmed vital dates for Ruth. Presumably, the two of them married sometime around 1931 or 1932, and they appear to have divorced in their early forties - there is a divorce record for the two of them on 4 Apr 1952 in Ada Cty, Idaho.

There is a marriage record just six weeks later in nearby Owyhee Cty, Idaho for Ruth Weible and George Alling on 27 May 1952. It seems likely that this Ruth is the mother of Edward and Dorothy Jean (and the first wife of Gilbert Weible), both for the timing and location proximity and for the fact that George and Ruth Alling are buried in the same cemetery as Edward Weible (Dry Creek Cemetery, Boise, Ada Cty, Idaho).

After the divorce record for Gilbert and Ruth, the next record I have tound for him is a marriage record from Los Angeles Cty, California on 6 Feb 1954 to Mildred (Baucom) Abbott; in the record, Gilbert's parents are named Edward Franklin Weible and Mary Brown. How long they may have remained married is uncertain - I have not found either a death or a burial record for a Mildred Weible of the appropriate age who might have been a spouse of Gilbert's. I can also not confirm whether Gilbert had any other marriages or children other than Edward and Dorothy with any spouse.

Of Gilbert's two known children, I cannot confirm that Edward married or had children, though I suspect he may have been single (either unmarried or divorced) at the time of his death, as there does not appear to be a spouse buried with him. Dorothy married at the age of sixteen to Philip Robert Marr, and while I have no information on their family at this time, I will note that both of their headstones' inscriptions give them as parents and grandparents.
