Narrative

I have not found significant information on John or his spouses at this point; he appears to have married twice. The first was in late 1925 to Vivian Marie Effinger, with whom he was recorded as living in the 1940 US Census (with her birthplace given as Indiana in the marriage record, and as Illinois in the census record). John appears to be buried with a Hazel M. Vergon, whose birthdate is several years prior to Vivian's. I am uncertain whether John and Vivian divorced or whether she died after 1940, nor have I found a marriage record for John and Hazel. Hazel's Wisconsin Death Index record gives her place and date of death as Waukesha Cty, Wisconsin, 9 May 1990.

I have also not found any indication that John had children from either marriage. No children were listed in his household in 1940, when he was thirty-eight and Vivian was thirty.

ADDENDUM: Steve Hackbarth provided information that John's first wife, Vivian, did remarry in 1947, and is buried in Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne, Allen Cty, Indiana (b. 20 Jun 1909, d. 24 Apr 1989) as Vivian Bitsberger.
