Narrative

Note: Marital history of John Frederick Schnitzke

Sorting our John Schnitzke's marital history has posed some slight challenge, not least of which are the gaps and the distances involved. The only marriage record I've found for John so far is in 1918 in Menominee, Menominee Cty, Michigan to Violet Creamer; shortly afterward, though, he's found living with his sister Ann and her husband and children in the 1920 US Census in Oakland, Alameda Cty, California, with no sign of Violet.

in the 1930 US Census he's found living with his mother and siblings in Waukesha, Waukesha Cty, Wisconsin, without any spouse present, and by the 1940 US Census he's still living in Waukesha, but this time with his wife Jeanette or "Jean," maiden name unknown. Jean and John must have married between 1930 and 1940, but when hasn't been determined yet. I do not know if they remained married until John's death in 1963, though it seems reasonable to assume so, as they are both buried in Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha.

I've not found any indication of children born to John in any of his marriages at this point.
