Narrative
Note: Researching Floyd W. Hippler and family
Floyd's first wife, Minnesota-born Velma Featherstone, died in 1944 at the age of thirty-seven. In addition to her husband, she left seven children ranging in ages from not quite fifeen years old (Priscilla) down to less than three years old (Sara).
Floyd died in 1987, and appears to have remarried at least once in the years following Velma's death; a 1999 obituary for Marcella "Sally" (Lee) Wierenga mentions all of Floyd's children as her step-children. It should be noted, though, that there is no mention of Floyd in that obituary, suggesting that Floyd and Sally likely did not remain married until his death, but probably divorced after some years. It should also be noted that no children (aside from the step-children) are mentioned, suggesting that she had no children from any marriage.
I have not found any marriage records or dates for Floyd or for any of his children, nor have I found a presumed divorce record or date for Floyd and Sally. I have not determined a burial location for Floyd or his first wife. Of the three of his children that I know have died prior to the time of this writing, the only one for whom I have found a burial location is Frank.
