Marshall D. Behling, 62, Boyne City businessman, died Jan. 13, 1985, at Little Traverse Division of Northern Michigan Hospitals.

Service is 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Boyne City First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Milton Walls Jr., will officiate and burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery.

During World War II, Mr. Behling served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps. While participating in the battle of Okinawa he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart. Following his discharge from the service, he attended a tool and die school in Kalamazoo and worked as an apprentice in Flint until 1955.

On Jan. 2, 1947, he married the former Thelma Davis. In 1955, the couple moved to Boyne City where they owned and operated the Little Cub Market.

Mr. Behling was a member of the Boyne City First Presbyterian Church and a member of the church choir; a member of Boyne City Masonic Lodge; a member of Evangeline chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; a member of Saladin Temple Club of Grand Rapids; a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
