Narrative

Note: Researching Blanch Shaw

Blanch (or Blanche) married in 1901 to Myra Kolp, and their daughter Fayne was born in 1909. In the 1920 US Census listing, the family was living in Ridgeville, Randolph Cty, Indiana; sometime before the 1930 US Census, Blanch and Fayne moved to Tucson, Prima Cty, Arizona, while Myra remained behind in Ridgeville, living as a boarder. I have not yet determined the reason for the family to live apart, and particularly for the wife to be the one who moved west. My initial assumption was that Myra had died and Blanch was a widow; after finding them living apart in 1930, I wondered if they were divorced or estranged (though each gave their marital status as "married"). In the 1940 US Census, the two are found together again, this time in the Tucson household of their daughter Fayne and her husband, Michael Stern.

The death date I have for Blanch is from a very old genealogy.com forum post by Donna L. (Shaw) Welker, a descendant of one of Blanch's brothers. I have not confirmed it yet with any record, nor have I found any burial information for Blanch yet. I have no death or burial information for Myra at this point.
