Narrative
Note: Researching Virginia May Baker
After the 1930 US Census record listing her in her parents' household in Marion, Marion Cty, Ohio, the next record I can find for Virginia is her 1946 marriage to Wallace Lyle Sandquist. I found his burial listing on the FindaGrave.com website, showing him having died in 2003 and sharing a headstone with a younger wife (Freda) who survived him. (As of 2013, she is listed as a survivor in one of her sister's obituaries.)
This indicated to me that Wallace must have remarried, but when was not entirely clear - in the photo on FindaGrave, the marriage date is engraved on their gravestone but is somewhat covered by flowers. The year of that marriage date, though, appears to start with "198," suggesting they married sometime in the eighties.
Whether Wallace and Virginia had divorced or whether he was a widower wasn't known to me yet; another search brought me to the Carver County (Minnesota) Historical Society website, with its index of the Carver County News. (Minnesota was home to Wallace's family, and his birthplace.) In that index were search results showing a death notice for Mrs. Wallace (Virginia) Sandquist in a March 1973 issue, along with a birth announcement of a baby boy born to W.L Sandquist in a February 1963 issue.
This led to an Ohio Death Index record for Virginia Sandquist on 16 Feb 1973, in Galion, Crawford Cty, Ohio - a city in which Wallace had been living prior to their marriage in 1946.
These results have led me to believe that Wallace and Virginia were married until her death in 1973, and that they had at least one child. The specifics of their family aren't known to me at this point, as I've not yet found any other records beyond those mentioned here. I have not found her burial location yet, either.
