The notes on the back of this photo were written by Jean Pasko for Jane Anne Thomas; the man pictured is clearly Samson Monroe Thomas. Jean writes that the baby with Samson is his first granddaughter, Edna Marie Thomas (m. Fishbaugh), daughter of Samson's son Dale Monroe Thomas. The first error is that Edna was not Samson's first granddaughter - that title belongs to Merle Bell Thomas (m. Paul), daughter of Samson's son Lewis, who was born nearly six years prior to Edna.
This picture is part of a set, the other of which is a four-generation photo with Samson's son Dale Monroe Thomas and Samson's grandson Faye Thomas - making the child Esther Mae Thomas (m. Foust), Samson's first great-grandchild.
