Narrative

Jacob Margerum appears to have married twice - first in 1894 to Mary Busher, with whom he appears to have had a child, Clara May, who was an infant death. I have not located a death record or burial site for Mary, but in the 1900 US Census, Jacob was living with his parents, listed as widowed. It seems quite possible that he lost his wife and daughter in a troubled birth, but this is undetermined.

In 1907, he married again, to the Canadian-born Jennette (Treachler) Wardrop, a woman seven years his senior. Whether she was widowed or divorced is not known at this time, nor is it known if she'd had any children. There are burial listings for both of them (along with photos of the stones) in Maple Hill Cemetery in Clarion, Charlevoix Cty, Michigan, but neither stone has the engraving completed for a year of death. I've also not yet located death records for either of them. It seems possible that they are each buried there, and the engraving was simply not completed, but I cannot confirm this.
