Narrative

Note: Ralph Nolan Martin's marriage, divorce, and daughter

Because of his presence in all the relevant census listings for his parents' household, I had originally assumed that Ralph had never married and had no children. This was, of course, before I had noticed that the listings from 1920 onward give his marital status as "divorced," rather than single.

Further searches turned up a marriage record from Michigan dated March 1914 to Iva Albright. Their daughter, Thayma, was born seven months later in Sturgis, St. Josephy Cty, Michigan, where she was listed in the 1920 US Census living with her mother, her maternal grandparents, and two of her aunts. By the time of the 1930 US Census, Charles Albright's household had relocated to Gardena, Los Angeles Cty, California - this time including just Charles, his wife, Iva, and Thayma.

Thayma herself married in Indiana in 1935 to Alfred George Peckham, b. 1913 in Michigan. Like her parents' marriage, Thayma's marriage to Alfred did not last long, as he is counted with his parents' household in Sturgis by the time of the 1940 US Census, with his status given as divorced.

I have been unable to find further record for Iva past the 1930 US Census listing for her parents' household. For Thayma, the last record I have found for her is her 1935 marriage record. I am uncertain whether Iva or Thayma, either one, ever remarried, nor do I know if Thayma had any children.
