Grandfather, Lewis S. Thomas
The child held by Samson is Merle's son, Thomas George Paul. The photo was taken sometime over winter 1916-1917, and is presumed to be taken on Lewis' farm in Union Twp, Huntington Cty, Indiana - although it may have been taken on Samson's farm on the other side county line of the same township, in Wells Cty.
