Narrative

Families of Merle Bell Thomas and Charles Maxwell Paul at their wedding, 2 Jun 1915. I have two different copies of this photo with annotations on identities from two different people - one of them Mary Alice (Bayha) Thomas, who wasn't present, and the other in handwriting that I haven't identified as of yet, but which I suspect may belong Merle's mother, Rosanna (Smith) Thomas. The folks in question the most are the pair of women visible over the bride's shoulder, along with the five young women kneeling or seated on the ground. I'll comment that most of those standing are faces I know well and recognize, particularly those belonging to my own ancestry (Merle's family). Beginning with those standing:

- Lewis S. Thomas and
- Rosanna (Smith) Thomas, parents of bride.

- \_ Not clearly known; both annotations note one of them to be May Paul,
- / and Mary Alice notes the other as Edith Paul; not sure which is which.

- Merle Bell Thomas, bride
- Charles Maxwell Paul, groom
- Lulu (Maxwell) Paul, and
- George Paul, parents of groom
- Samson Monroe Thomas, paternal grandfather of bride
- Frank Lemaster, minister
- Jeremiah W. Smith, and
- Rebecca (DeWitt) Smith, maternal grandparents of bride

Of the five girls in front, Mary Alice notes them as Mae Paul, Florence Olds (which may be correctly spelled Ohls or Ols), unknown, Hazel Fleener (sp?), and Fern Smith. The other writer notes only three names: Edith Paul, Ruth Luther, and Mabel Smith.
